Cranberry Century Bike Tour
Sunday, September 19, 2010 Highlights
Bob Plant of Marathon was again the first biker to arrive on the scene Sunday morning to sign in and ride the 100-mile tour. He was one of the 56 pre-registered bikers. Curt Fredrikson of Mokena, Illinois, riding his 1960’s 3-speed, was the last biker to complete the 100-mile route.
The weather was beautiful for all the bikers, who ranged in age from 11 to 81. There were 112 bikers to register on-site that morning for a record total of 168 bikers to ride either the 20-40-64- or 100-mile tours. Their registration fee of $25 plus some donations provided $4300 in fundraising income for the ongoing support of the Ronald McDonald House in Marshfield.
The tour t-shirts were paid for by the following sponsors of this year’s event: Central City Credit Union; Felker Brothers Corporation; Festival Foods; Figi’s Inc; Hawkins, Ash, Baptie & CO; Marshfield Clinic; McDonalds (Missoula Mac-Poynette); Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital; and Total Electric Services.
Special thanks to Denny Riedel of The Sports Den who spends many hours setting up and painting the routes for the tour and then sagging the tours to make sure everyone had a fun, safe ride. Thanks also to the Marshfield Amateur Radio Society, Coca Cola USA, local Board members, Staff and Volunteers who helped in so many ways to make our annual bike tour event a success.
Please mark your calendar for next year’s tour on Sunday, September 18, 2011.
